Rim locks were traditionally used on doors in Victorian homes in England and Ireland, and have been used in heritage homes in Australia over the last 100 years. They are a surface mounted box which contains a latch inside and functions with a mortice knob.
Part of our range of traditional door handles that are specially designed to allow your rim locks to function. These mortice knobs from Australian company, Tradco Hardware, are made of chrome-plated brass and brushed by hand to produce the elegant satin finish. The rose backplates are detachable to allow the knob to sit flush against the surface of the rim lock. These traditional door handles can also be used with tubular latches. Each pair includes a threaded spindle and wood screws which enable the backplates to be attached to the surface of a timber door.
