Kitchen Knobs

A knob around 30–35mm wide is a good starting size for a standard kitchen cupboard door or drawer. Our kitchen cabinet knobs include simple round designs, traditional brass styles and decorative glass and porcelain options, in finishes such as black, brass, chrome and nickel.

Knobs are commonly used on cupboard doors, with kitchen pull handles or cup pulls on drawers. You can use the same knob throughout, or choose matching knobs and pulls from one collection.

Choosing the size and shape

That measurement refers to the knob itself, not the width of its base. Smaller knobs can suit small drawers, while a larger knob or pull handle may be easier to grip on a heavy drawer or tall pantry cupboard.

A smooth round knob feels different from a faceted glass knob or an ornate design with raised details. Think about which you would find comfortable to use every day, especially on your most-used cupboards.

Replacing old cupboard knobs

Measure the base of your old knob and look for any marks around it. A new knob may be wider at the front but still have a smaller base, leaving the old mark visible. Compare base measurements before ordering; a knob backplate can help cover marks where its size and fixing suit.

Most cabinet knobs attach with a screw through the back of the cupboard door or drawer. The screw length needs to suit the thickness of that front. If you are replacing a pull handle with a knob, there will usually be a second hole to fill or cover.

Matching knobs, handles and finishes

Choosing knobs and drawer pulls from the same brand and finish collection is usually the easiest way to get a close match. Finish names alone are not enough: antique brass from two brands can have different colours, and brushed or satin finishes can differ in sheen.

If you are fitting out a whole kitchen, it is worth ordering a spare or two. That gives you a replacement if a knob is damaged later, even if the design or finish has been discontinued. For help finding a match, contact our team with a photo of your existing hardware.

Kitchen knob FAQs

No. You can mix finishes if you like the combination. A chrome or nickel tap with brass cupboard knobs is one option. If you want everything to match closely, compare the actual finishes rather than relying on their names.

Yes. Buying one first lets you see the colour against your cupboards and try the size and grip at home before ordering the rest.

You may need a shorter screw with the same thread. Take the knob and its supplied screw to a hardware store to find a suitable replacement, or ask our team for help. Check the product details for the fixings supplied.

Yes, when the fixing suits the door or drawer. Some decorative ceramic and crystal designs may look better on furniture than on kitchen cupboards. Browse our furniture knobs for more styles.
