Light Switches

Bring period detail into the everyday with light switches in polished brass, antique brass, antique copper, chrome, satin chrome and matte black. Choose a traditional toggle, a familiar rocker or a slim architrave switch, then carry your chosen finish through to your power points for a coordinated room.

Choose your light switch style

  • Toggle light switches have a small projecting lever and suit heritage interiors beautifully. Rectangular plates let you group several switches together; round styles offer a more traditional look.
  • Rocker light switches combine a familiar push action with decorative metal plates. They are a good choice when you want classic finishes with the feel of an everyday switch.
  • Architrave switches use a narrow plate for places where a full-width rectangular switch will not fit. Both toggle and rocker options are available.

Plan the layout and finishing details

The gang number tells you how many switches are on one plate: a two-gang plate has two switches, for example. Count the controls you need in each position, including any dimmer, before choosing the plate.

Warm brass and copper finishes sit comfortably alongside traditional door furniture. Chrome has a bright, polished shine, while satin chrome has a softer sheen. Choosing switches and power points from the same range makes coordinating the finish easier. Our team can also help you find the closest match to existing hardware.

For a traditional timber-backed look, browse our switch mounting blocks. Dimmers, fan controllers and other electrical accessories and mechanisms are available separately. Have your electrician confirm the layout and install the switches.

Light switch FAQs

Yes, Tradco rectangular light switches use HPM mechanisms and are a practical option for replacing standard white switches. Have your electrician confirm the plate size, mounting and functions suit your existing installation. Round and narrow architrave designs have different footprints, so allow for any old wall marks or openings when changing styles.

Compatible Tradco rectangular toggle and rocker switches can take a separate dimmer knob and mechanism in place of one switch. These dimmers also need a separate on/off switch, so allow a position for each. For LED lighting, choose an LED-compatible dimmer and have your electrician confirm it suits your lights.

Yes. A two-way switching arrangement lets you operate the same light from two positions, such as either end of a hallway. Choose switches listed as two-way and ask your electrician to confirm the arrangement. Two-way describes the switching function; two-gang describes the number of switches on a plate.

The brand and mechanism need to match, even when the switches look similar. Tradco uses HPM mechanisms, while other heritage switches may use a different system. Before ordering a replacement component, send our team a photo and any brand or model details so we can help identify the right option.
