Hartley House: A French-Country Manor Reimagined

Nestled on 15 acres near Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains region of NSW, Hartley House is a beautifully restored sandstone manor inspired by French-country living. Combining rustic elegance with timeless architectural detail, the home feels both refined and deeply welcoming - a place designed to be lived in, shared, and enjoyed for generations.

Following a devastating fire in 2022 that destroyed much of the main residence, the home underwent an extensive rebuild and renovation, completed in late 2025 by I for Style Interior Design in collaboration with Eberones Constructions.

The result is a remarkable restoration that honours the home’s original European character while introducing comfort, practicality, and thoughtful contemporary touches throughout.

Layered Interiors with Timeless Character

Throughout the home, classic detailing and carefully curated finishes create a warm and layered interior aesthetic. Traditional wall mouldings and wainscoting add depth and elegance, while antique and salvaged pieces bring authenticity and history into the space.

Soft muted tones, textured fabrics, natural timber, and stonework work together to create interiors that feel relaxed yet sophisticated - capturing the essence of French-country style without feeling overly formal.

From beautifully detailed cabinetry to thoughtfully selected hardware and bathroom fittings, every element was chosen to complement the home’s timeless character.

Heritage Details & Functional Beauty

One of the standout features of the project is the balance between beauty and practicality. Traditional-inspired joinery, classic tapware, statement door hardware, and elegant cabinetry details help create a cohesive look throughout the home while remaining highly functional for modern family living.

Touches such as:

  • • Heritage-inspired door hardware
  • • Traditional cabinet handles
  • • Classic bathroom fittings
  • • Decorative wall mouldings
  • • Antique furnishings and vintage elements

all contribute to the home’s layered, lived-in feel.

A Restoration Designed to Endure

Externally, the manor retains its classic French-country proportions and charm through the use of locally quarried sandstone, vintage French-style entry doors, shutters, and formal garden influences.

The restoration feels deeply considered - not simply rebuilt, but thoughtfully reimagined with respect for the home’s history and setting.

We’re honoured to have our products featured throughout this beautiful project and love seeing how thoughtfully selected hardware and fittings can help bring an entire vision together.
