Tradco Euro Lever Handle Hardware Requirements

Do I Need a Lock?

A lock is the internal mechanism (installed inside the door) with the tongue protruding from the edge of the door. The lock is what makes the handles functional. Without a lock, the door would not be able to be closed and held in place or opened by turning the handle.

For a Euro handle, the lock also incorporates a hole for the euro cylinder which is the part where you put in and turn the key to lock and unlock the door. When the lock and cylinder are installed, when you turn the key, a bolt in the lock is thrown into the door frame to stop the door from opening.

For a fully functional Euro set you will require a set of Euro Door Handles, a Euro Mortice Lock and a Euro Cylinder (with key).

If you are replacing existing door handles and have euro locks and euro cylinders installed in the door/s that you wish to use, in 98% of cases you can retain these and just replace the handles.
