Basin Taps
Cross handles, porcelain levers and simple mixers each bring a different character to a bathroom vanity. Our basin tapware ranges from heritage styles to cleaner modern designs, with chrome, brass, nickel, black and copper finishes among the choices. Choose a decorative set for a traditional basin, or a pared-back mixer to let a favourite bowl or tiled splashback stand out.
Find a layout that suits your basin
A three-piece set has separate hot and cold controls and a spout; a single-handle mixer combines both controls at one outlet. Wall-mounted taps leave the basin or benchtop clear. The right arrangement starts with where the tap will sit and the holes available in your basin, vanity or wall.
When replacing tapware, keeping the existing layout is usually the simplest option. Compare the hole positions and spacing, mounting dimensions and connections with the new fittings. If you are planning a new vanity, choose the basin and taps together so their dimensions work as a pair.
Get the spout height and reach right
An above-counter bowl often needs a taller tap or a wall-mounted spout, whereas a basin with its own tap platform may suit a shorter fitting. Allow comfortable space for washing your hands, with the outlet reaching past the rim into the bowl. Too little reach can leave the water close to the edge; excessive height or reach can contribute to splashing. A side-view drawing is more useful here than a lifestyle photograph alone.
Choose handles and a finish you love
Porcelain levers and cross handles suit a period bathroom beautifully, while a simple lever works well in a modern or transitional room. Where washer or operating-mechanism choices are offered, select the option listed for that tap rather than assuming every handle works the same way.
Brass and copper bring warmth, while chrome and nickel offer lighter alternatives. Some finishes mature and develop a patina; others are designed to retain a more consistent appearance. Our CB Ideal finish guide explains the choices within that range.
For the closest coordinated look, start with the same brand and finish collection for your bath taps and shower fittings. When mixing brands, look at colour and sheen: matching finish names do not guarantee an exact match. Our team can help compare options.
Basin tap FAQs
A single-hole mixer is not a direct replacement for a three-hole set. If you are keeping the basin or benchtop, the existing holes need to be accommodated. Ask your plumber about the layout before selecting the tapware; photos and hole-centre measurements help our team suggest suitable options.
Inclusions vary. A pictured basin or waste may be sold separately, and wall-mounted tapware may need additional in-wall components. Use the listed inclusions to build a complete order. Choose the basin waste for the basin's outlet and overflow arrangement rather than for the tap's finish alone.
The individual tap's pressure rating determines suitability. Have your plumber compare its minimum and maximum requirements with your supply, particularly for gravity-fed or tank-fed systems. A traditional appearance does not establish low-pressure compatibility.
Yes. Send our team the basin dimensions, tap-hole arrangement and a photo or drawing, together with the style and finish you like. We can help narrow the choices and identify the parts to order, while your plumber confirms the installation details.
