Bathroom Taps

Shop traditional and modern bathroom taps for basins, baths and showers, including separate hot and cold tap sets, mixers, wall-mounted tapware and telephone bath taps. Choose from a wide selection of finishes, with coordinating fittings available across many collections.

Before choosing a style, check the tap holes, mounting position, spout dimensions and water-pressure requirements against your existing plumbing and fixtures. These details matter when replacing old taps as well as planning a new bathroom.

Find the right bathroom taps for your project

The first step is to identify where the tap will be installed and the type of tapware the fixture and plumbing can accommodate.

Basin taps

Basin taps include traditional three-piece sets with separate hot and cold controls and a central spout, as well as tap pairs and other configurations for bathroom basins. Check the number and position of the tap holes, along with the spout height and reach, to make sure the selected tapware suits your basin.

This is especially important with above-counter vessel basins, where a taller tap or wall-mounted spout may be required. The water should reach comfortably into the bowl without landing too close to the edge or creating excessive splashing.

Bathroom mixer taps

Bathroom mixer taps combine hot and cold water at one outlet, usually using a single handle to adjust flow and temperature. This category includes basin mixers, bath mixers and wall-mounted mixers, so it is important to check the intended application and mounting method rather than assuming every mixer is designed for a basin.

Bath taps

Bath taps may be mounted on the wall, on a hob or bath surround, on the edge of a suitable bath, or on the floor beside a freestanding bath. Check the specified mounting position and make sure the spout height and projection will clear the edge of the bath and direct water comfortably inside it.

Shower taps and wall mixers

Choose separate hot and cold shower taps, or browse wall mixers and assemblies for single-handle mixers and separate wall controls. Confirm the required in-wall body or breech, outlet positions and installation requirements before tiling or lining the wall.

Telephone taps and specialised options

Telephone taps are traditional bath tap sets with a flexible handpiece. The spout fills the bath, while the handset is useful for bathing and rinsing. For a shower-over-bath installation, check whether the set supports your intended shower arrangement; hose length, handset mounting and any separate shower fittings need to be considered.

Our wider range also includes pillar and bib taps, bidet taps and accessible bathroom taps for more specialised applications.

Replacing bathroom taps: what to measure

If you are keeping the existing basin, bath, benchtop or tiled wall, matching the current tap configuration is usually the simplest option. Compare the product's specifications with:

  • Tap holes or wall outlets: check their number, position and centre-to-centre spacing.
  • Mounting method: confirm whether the fitting is basin, bench, wall, hob or floor mounted.
  • Spout height: allow enough clearance above the basin or bath, particularly with an above-counter vessel basin.
  • Spout reach or projection: check that the outlet will clear the rim and direct water into the bowl or bath.
  • Mounting dimensions and connections: compare the required hole sizes, fixing space and plumbing connections.
  • Coverage: check whether the new fitting will cover existing holes or marks.

A spout that is too short may leave water landing close to the edge, while excessive height or reach can contribute to splashing. Check the tap and basin dimensions together rather than choosing from photographs alone.

A single-hole mixer cannot normally replace a three-hole set without alterations. Changing between wall-mounted and bench-mounted tapware also requires changes to the installation. Discuss any change in configuration with your plumber before ordering.

Bathroom taps and water pressure

Water-pressure requirements vary between taps. Check the minimum and maximum operating pressure in the individual product specifications and have your plumber compare these with your home's water supply.

If your home has gravity-fed, tank-fed, unusually low-pressure or another non-standard water system, check the stated pressure requirements and ask your plumber to confirm suitability before ordering. The individual tap's intended application and specifications should also be checked rather than assuming visually similar bath, basin and kitchen taps are interchangeable.

Overseas customers should also have a local plumber check connections, pressure requirements, required in-wall components and local suitability before ordering. Do not assume Australian tapware will be compatible with an overseas installation.

Choosing and matching bathroom tap finishes

Bathroom tapware is available in finishes ranging from classic chrome and nickel through to brass, bronze, copper, matte black and gunmetal. Some are stable finishes designed to retain a relatively consistent appearance, while living or unlacquered finishes are intended to tarnish and develop a natural patina. Always check the care and finish information for the individual product, as construction and coatings vary between manufacturers.

Finish names are not standardised across the industry. For example, brushed brass or antique brass from one manufacturer may differ in colour, texture and sheen from another manufacturer's version. For the closest match, we recommend selecting basin, bath and shower tapware from the same brand and finish collection wherever possible.

If you are coordinating tapware with bathroom accessories or other fittings from another brand, do not assume an identically named finish will be exact. Ask our team for help comparing finishes where a close match is important. For CB Ideal tapware, our CB Ideal finish guide explains the differences between non-tarnishing and maturing finishes.

What is included with bathroom tapware?

Always read the individual product description and specifications to confirm what is included. Lifestyle photographs may show basins, wastes, shower fittings, handpieces or accessories that are not supplied with the tapware.

A three-piece tap set generally consists of two controls and a separate spout, but inclusions can vary. Required wastes, in-wall bodies, breeches, hoses and other installation components may be included, offered separately or need to be sourced for the particular installation. If anything is unclear, contact us with the product details before ordering.

Planning a coordinated bathroom

Selecting tapware early can make it easier to coordinate the plumbing, tap holes and fixture dimensions. Many ranges include matching taps for the basin, bath and shower, along with complementary fittings in the same finish.

When selecting a new bathroom basin, consider it alongside the tapware so the mounting configuration, tap height and spout reach work together. You can then coordinate the room with complementary bathroom accessories, including towel rails, robe hooks, toilet roll holders and soap dishes.

If you are unsure which fittings will work together, contact our team with your measurements, plumbing details and clear photos before ordering. Check all items on arrival and before installation.

Bathroom tap FAQs

Identify the existing number of tap holes or wall outlets, the mounting position, hole centres and other relevant measurements. Matching the current configuration is generally the simplest approach when the basin, bath, benchtop or wall is not also being replaced. Compare these details with the product specifications and speak with your plumber if alterations may be required.

A single-handle mixer controls hot and cold water at one outlet. Traditional tap sets use separate hot and cold controls and may have a shared central spout. The appropriate choice depends on the available tap holes, plumbing arrangement and preferred style.

No. Basins differ in their tap-hole configuration, mounting space and dimensions. Check the required mounting method, tap-hole arrangement, spout height and projection against the basin before ordering. Above-counter basins often require additional height or a suitable wall-mounted arrangement.

Not necessarily. Finish names are not standardised, so the colour and sheen can vary between manufacturers even when the same finish name is used. Choosing products from the same brand and finish collection provides the best chance of a close match.

Suitability depends on the pressure requirements of the individual product. Check the pressure rating shown on the product page and ask your plumber to confirm suitability for gravity-fed, tank-fed or unusually low-pressure systems before ordering.

Inclusions vary between products. Check the individual description and specifications rather than relying on the lifestyle images, as pictured basins, wastes, handpieces, shower fittings and installation components may be sold separately.

The handset is useful for bathing and rinsing, but suitability for showering depends on the particular set and installation. Check the hose length, handset mounting and whether separate shower fittings are needed with your plumber before ordering.

Have a qualified plumber confirm suitability and arrange installation. This is particularly important when changing tap configurations, installing wall-mounted products or working with unusual plumbing or water-pressure systems.
